AHMEDABAD – A tragic accident at the Shaktipeeth site on Pavagadh Hill in Gujarat’s Panchmahal district claimed the lives of six people on Saturday afternoon, according to police officials. The incident occurred when a cargo ropeway trolley, being used for carrying construction materials, collapsed, sending it plummeting to the ground.
Panchmahal Deputy Superintendent of Police, Dr. Harsh Dudhaat, confirmed the fatalities and stated that police and fire brigade teams immediately rushed to the scene to conduct rescue and relief operations. The accident took place at the popular pilgrimage site, which is a significant Shaktipeeth dedicated to Goddess Kali and attracts millions of devotees annually.
“It was a ropeway to carry goods that crashed at noon today. Five persons were inside the cabin and on their way back from the top when the cables snapped near the fourth tower and it crashed with tower number one so this is where the impact came, killing all five. One person who was at the scene also died due to the impact,” Ajay Dahiya, collector of Panchmahals.
