Renowned ghazal maestro Pankaj Udhas, aged 72, passed away on February 26, as confirmed by his team. Battling a prolonged illness, he breathed his last around 11 am at Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital. His daughter, Nayaab Udhas, shared the somber news through a statement expressing deep sorrow over the demise of the Padmashri awardee.
Born on May 17, 1951, in Gujarat, Pankaj Udhas made an indelible mark on the music industry with his soulful renditions, particularly in the ghazal genre. Rising to prominence in the 1980s and 1990s, he captivated audiences with his melodious voice and meaningful lyrics.
