The ongoing search operation in Siddhi has recovered another dead body in connection with the bus accident on 16th February. The death toll has now risen to 52 with 2 still missing. SDRF, NDRF, and home guards are engaged in the search.
The remaining two passengers are also being searched in the Bansagar Canal passing under the 4 km perpendicular tunnel built under the Chaihiya mountain. The tunnel is reported to be an oxygen low spot; due to which the surfing team has entered the tunnel with an oxygen cylinder, headlamp and started combing.
The tragic incident occurred while the 32-seater bus was on its way to Satna seating 61 passengers. The bus lost control whilst changing side and fell straight from the culvert into the canal. It immediately sank into the deep-water body. And was later rescued by a crane.
Until now a total of 7 people has been evacuated by special forces deployed by the district officials.
