Bengaluru: Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda gave a strict warning to his absconding grandson Prajwal Revanna, who is accused in a sexual harassment case, and now Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has come down heavily on it, stating that it is an empty threat. Continuing his tirade against Gowda and his family, Siddaramaiah also accused them of conspiring to help Prajwal flee the country at the instance of Deve Gowda.
Speaking to reporters on Deve Gowda’s ‘warning letter’, Siddaramaiah said, “It is pointless to write letters and upload them under social media now. HD Deve Gowda made his grandson Prajwal Revanna flee from this country… and he is protecting him.”
While other politicians in Karnataka were commenting about this issue heatedly, the Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar was laconic on this subject and described this event as a family affair within the Deve Gowda family. The former PM’s letter to his grandson is a family affair. The letter contains all the horrible things concerning personal life; I will not comment on that: Shivakumar.
On Thursday, JDS chief HD Deve Gowda expressed his anger through an open letter to his grandson, or the person who did the wrong thing, saying, “I can only do one thing’. The second thing I could do was threaten Prajwal and tell him if he had gone somewhere, then he should come over to surrender to the police immediately. This is a call to him to submit to the legal procedure. This is not a plea I am making; this is a warning I get to give. The 91-year-old veteran politician stood by his word, stressed his conscience and said he does not have to explain anything to individuals accusing his family. He also said, ‘It should be seen that if what has been levied against Prajwal is true, then the harshest penalties should be inflicted upon him’.”
This conker traced its origin when Prajwal Revanna was charged with rape, criminal intimidation, and sexual harassment, among other offences and fled the country. Many unauthorized videos purportedly depicting him as engaged in sexual activities with women have subsequently flooded the media.
