NEW DELHI: The Saket court in Delhi on Tuesday extended the judicial custody of Shraddha murder accused- Aaftab Poonawala for the next 14 days.
Aaftab was produced before metropolitan magistrate Aviral Shukla in the court lockup. The court in the hearing today has also directed the authorities to provide him with warm clothes. Aaftab has also demanded some law books to study.
On Jan 6th, a plea was filed in the Saket court for releasing the Credit and Debit cards from the custody of Delhi police. The application was moved by his lawyer Advocate MS Khan before the magistrate.
On December 26th, Aaftab was taken for voice sampling tests to the Central Bureau of Investigations CFSL by the Delhi police. The Delhi police on Dec 24th had sought permission to record his voice sample after they assessed a video, where Shraddha and Aaftab are seen in a verbal spat.
Earlier on December 9th, the court had extended Poonawalas custody by four days. He is currently lodged in Tihar Jail and is been observed 24/7.
Aaftab 28, killed Shraddha in May and allegedly sawed her body into 35 pieces and kept them in a 300-liter fridge for almost three weeks at his residence in south Delhi’s Mehrauli before dumping them across the city over several days.
