Mumbai: Unexpectedly Ajit Pawar, currently serving as the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra has announced his assumption of the role of National President for the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). This assertion has triggered extensive deliberation and contemplation amongst prominent political analysts and party constituents. Recent reports reveal that Ajit Pawar had informed the Election Commission about this two days prior to his unexpected decision to join the government led by Eknath Shinde. This development precedes an important meeting scheduled to be held by NCP supremo Sharad Pawar in Delhi on Thursday.
Ajit Pawar, with the backing of more than 40 MLAs expressed his deep respect for his uncle, Sharad Pawar. He acknowledged him as his mentor and credited him with sharing invaluable wisdom. Ajit Pawar emphasized the importance of Maharashtras development and assured that the Nationalist Congress Party will give utmost priority to the states welfare. Although he didn’t elaborate he mentioned his support for the Prime Minister as well.
Dispelling rumors of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s resignation, Maharashtra Minister Shambhuraj Desai affirmed the unwavering support of over 200 MLAs for Shinde’s leadership. He stated that there is no discontent among the party leaders, and all have complete faith in Shinde’s capabilities.
Following a meeting between Shiv Sena leaders and Eknath Shinde at Varsha bungalow, Maharashtra Minister Uday Samant clarified the agenda discussed, which included upcoming sessions of the Lok Sabha and Maharashtra Vidhansabha. The meeting focused on planning future actions for MLAs, MPs, and MLCs, as well as addressing development work and organizational growth. Samant stressed that there was no displeasure among their MLAs regarding Ajit Pawar’s inclusion in the cabinet, reaffirming their confidence in Eknath Shinde. He dismissed rumors of Shinde’s resignation as baseless, asserting that all MP and MLA elections would be conducted under Shinde’s leadership.
