Pune: Prominent leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Sharad Pawar made a statement today emphasizing the unity and solidarity of the NCP. He reiterated that Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar, remains a leader within the party.
Speaking from his residence in Baramati, Pune district, before heading to Kolhapur for a planned rally, Pawar addressed speculations regarding the party’s unity. He acknowledged that while some leaders have chosen to deviate from the party’s stance, their departure does not indicate a split within the party.
Pawar clarified these points following his daughter and NCP’s working president, Supriya Sule, mentioning Ajit Pawar’s position within the party. Sule highlighted his status as a leader and MLA while expressing concerns about his decisions not aligning with the party’s objectives. She also mentioned that they have communicated these concerns to the assembly speaker and are awaiting feedback. When asked about Sule’s remarks, Sharad Pawar agreed with her views. Dismissed any rumors of divisions within the NCP.
Explaining what would constitute a split, Sharad Pawar stated, “A true split refers to a faction of the party breaking away on a national level. We haven’t witnessed any occurrence.”
“It is indeed true that certain individuals have opted for trajectories. It is their democratic prerogative to exercise such choices.”
