The news of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan receiving a death threat has increased security concerns in Mumbai.
The threat was made through a telephone call to the office of his production house, Red Chillies Entertainment, situated in Bandra, Maharashtra. The call was to someone whose number was formally under the name of a man named Faizan, a man hailing from Raipur, Chhattisgarh. After the threat, the team of the super star, Shah Rukh Khan, lodged a complaint to the Bandra Police, which acted swiftly.
A crime branch team from Bandra police station is dispatching to Raipur to carry out further probes into this connection. The police have located the last place the phone number was used and are in the process of confirming the story behind the threatening call. The man has been claimed to have introduced himself as “Hindustani” during the call, but other details of the suspect and his reasons for committing the crime have not been ascertained.
The threat to kill Shah Rukh Khan has continued at a time when another Bollywood star, Salman Khan, has received multiple death threats in recent weeks. In another instance, a man from Jalore in Rajasthan was apprehended in Karnataka on Wednesday in connection with threats to kill Salman Khan. These events have led to issues regarding the privacy and safety of celebrities in Indian cinema, and because of this, the police have taken swift measures.
Both Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan are top Bollywood heroes, and any insecurity concerning the life and health of these stars causes high public interest. The police have continued to downstate to the public that they are doing everything possible to protect from such people who are extending threats to these celebrities and promised to work on the source of such threats.
