On Sunday, gunfire broke out between terrorists and security personnel in the Jammu and Kashmir district of Kishtwar. Officials say that the gunshots happened close to the Paddar Batam Bridge in the Kishtwar district. There, the search is currently underway.

Two soldiers were killed in an encounter between security forces and terrorists on Saturday in the Ahlan Gandole area of Kokernag in the Anantnag district of Kashmir. Three soldiers and two civilians were among the five other people who sustained injuries. The two injured civilians’ terror histories are being investigated, according to the Army.
“It had been previously confirmed through human and electronic means that on August 5, 2024, terrorists responsible for atrocities and incidents in the Doda region in the month of July 24 had sneaked across the Kishtwar range into the Kapran Garol area in South Kashmir,” the Army said in a statement regarding the gunfight in Kokernag on Saturday evening. Since then, the Rashtriya Rifles and the J&K Police have been tracking these terrorists with the highest determination. On August 9 and 10, 2024, targeted operations were carried out in the mountains to the east of Kapran, where the terrorists were allegedly holed up.
“At around 1400 hours on August 10, suspicious activity was noticed. Terrorists responded instantly with indiscriminate, frantic, and careless gunfire, injuring two Army soldiers and two nearby civilians. We’re figuring out the injured civilians’ terror history,” the army said.
The encounter location is situated at a high altitude of over 10,000 feet and presents significant challenges to operations due to dense undergrowth, large boulders, and nallahs. “The security forces are in the process of hunting down the terrorists,” according to the Army.
