New Delhi: The SC hearing the petition filed by mosque committee challenging the court mandated filming ordered the Varanasi court not to pass any orders today.

A bench headed by Justice D Y Chandrachud posted Gyanvapi mosque management’s appeal against survey of the mosque premises for detailed hearing on Friday at 3 pm.

Hearing in the court of Civil judge senior division Ravi Kumar Diwakar is scheduled to take place at 2pm.

A three folder report in a sealed cover was submitted by the team that filmed the mosque. A chip with videos and photographs of the filming was also handed over, Vishal Singh, the court-appointed commissioner said.

A top official leading the filming, Advocate Commissioner Ajay Pratap Singh, in a media interaction said he stayed up all night to prepare the report, including videos and pictures from inside the mosque, even the basement.”The court had given us a big responsibility and we conducted the survey honestly in the sweltering heat, even in dirty basements. We took all parties along, the petitioners and mosque representatives, so that there’s no question of impropriety,” he said.

Several sculptures of gods and goddesses alongwith other structures related to Hindu belief were seen in the Gyanvapi Mosque in Varanasi, said advocate Ajay Kumar Mishra, who was appointed commissioner by Varanasi court to survey the Gyanvapi-Gauri Shringar complex but was later removed for leaking the information.
