New Delhi: The Supreme Court has extended interim bail to the Aam Admi Party leader and former Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain on medical grounds. The leader got an interim bail extension until further orders. Senior Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi appearing for Jain apprises the court that Jain had undergone spine surgery and needs time to recover.
Probbing the money laundering case, a bench of Justices AS Bopanna and Bela M Trivedi was informed by Jain’s advocate that he had undergone spine surgery on July 21.
Additional Solicitor General SV Raju stressed for an independent evaluation to reveal if Jain needs hospitalization.
ED arrested Satyendar Jain on May 30, 2022 on the charge of money laundering through four companies allegedly linked to him, he was arrested in the aftermath of a CBI FIR registered against him in 2017 under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Satyendra Jain has been in Tihar jail since May last year following his arrest in money laundering charges and has been granted bail until July 11 even as Enforcement Directorate (ED) said it cannot trust LNH’s medical reports and that a panel of doctors from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) should examine him. The next hearing of the Supreme Court on this matter is scheduled for August 21.
