According to a news agency, YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia’s plea for releasing his passport after two weeks was held by the Supreme Court on Tuesday that he would hear the matter. After Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed the bench that the case investigation should be decided within this bar period, the court’s statement was made.

Representing Allahbadia, senior advocate Abhinav Chandrachud sought that the court modify the condition of depositing his passport, which is affecting his livelihood. Allahbadia explained that as a content creator, he often had to travel abroad for interviews, which often meant rounds of several meetings. Allahbadia had also given an undertaking in the Supreme Court of decency in his shows; he submitted the defence.

At the hearing, on the other hand, the Supreme Court was worried about Allahbadia’s international travel as it could impact the ongoing investigation. The bench asked Solicitor General Mehta, representing the Maharashtra and Assam governments, regarding the estimate of time needed to conclude the probe. According to Mehta, it was likely that the investigation would be wrapped up within two weeks.

Considering that the court had this timeframe, it decided to do the needful — revisit the plea of Ranveer Allahbadia after two weeks and not decide instantly about his passport release. Allahbadia’s ability to travel internationally depends on the end of the investigation and the matter is currently under judicial consideration.

Allahbadia is well known in the world as a digital influencer, for which restriction is placed on his professional commitments. Now, the court’s upcoming decision will decide whether he will get back his passport and be able to resume his international travelling for creating content.
