New Delhi: Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain will be questioned tomorrow over the capital’s no-retracted liquor sales policy, the court ruled today. The minister was arrested three months ago in money laundering case.
The liquor policy is being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as well as Enforcement Directorate (ED). The agencies probes financial crimes following a directive from Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, a representative of the BJP-led government at the center.
Meanwhile, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) released a sting operation video to claim that AAP government in Delhi framed its liquor policy to help a select few to which Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia responded with a challenge. Sisodia refused all allegations and called it an attempt to malign them.
Earlier on May 30, Mr. Jain was arrested by the central probe agencies under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) over alleged hawala transactions with a Kolkata-based firm in 2015-16. Following the arrest, CBI raided Delhi’s Deputy CM Manish Sisodia over the liquor policy.
