New Delhi: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today has called for a ‘Black Friday protest’ on account of the completion of one year of enactment of the three farm laws. The protest in Delhi commenced at 9: 30 am from Gurudwara Rakab Ganj to the Parliament and was led by SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal and SAD MP Harishmat Kaur Badal.
Citing the coerced protest, the Delhi Police authorities have levied Section 144 in New Delhi. The protest site witnessed a large gathering of masses to participate in the protest. Speaking to the media, New Delhi DCP Deepak Yadav said,” We are in talks with the leaders and have clearly informed that there is no permission to hold a protest.” In view of the accumulation of the masses, the New Delhi police deployed security personnel at Delhi’s Shankar road area to control unforeseen violence.
Earlier today, the party had taken to its Twitter account updating the current stage of the protest preparation. The tweet read- “Looking at the number of farmers and Akali Dal cadre coming for the protest today, Rakab Ganj Sahib is being cordoned off to stop Punjabis from entering. This is a reminder of dark dictatorial times.” They alleged that the state authorities were sealing the borders and restraining vehicles from Punjab to enter.
