The Russian authorities honored Indian independence fighter Biju Patnaik through a public commemorative plaque tribute ceremony at their New Delhi embassy on Wednesday. The ceremony took place as part of Russia’s celebrations for the 80th anniversary of its victorious achievement in World War II.
BJD president and Leader of the Opposition in the Odisha Assembly, Naveen Patnaik, was specifically invited to this event by Russian Ambassador Denis Alipov. The former governor of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik, expressed gratitude through X (formerly Twitter) after attending the Russian Embassy memorial plaque dedication in New Delhi, where Biju Patnaik’s Stalingrad Operation contribution was honored during World War II was honored. “People of #Odisha will be immensely pleased with this award for #BijuPatnaik whom they treat with huge respect. Ambassador Alipov previously wrote to Naveen Patnaik about Biju Patnaik’s courageous wartime service as a pilot for Indian National Airways. His presence at the Stalingrad Operation delivered weapons and logistical help to Soviet troops who were surrounded at that decisive phase of World War II which facilitated the ultimate Allied triumph over Nazi Germany.
One of the most crucial military engagements from World War II occurred at Stalingrad from July 1942 until February 1943 and changed the war’s course decisively toward Allied victory.
Russia will host multiple commemoration events throughout April and May as they remember all anti-Nazi fighters who stood together as allies against Nazism – particularly celebrating Biju Patnaik because his fearless leadership remains inspiring today.
