MUMBAI: The Indian Rupee on Wednesday, depreciated by 13 paise to close at 82.38 (provisional) against the US Dollar.

At the interbank foreign exchange, the domestic unit opened at 82.29 against the dollar, also the intra-day high, and settled for the day at 82.38 (provisional), down 13 paise from its previous close.

During the day, the rupee touched a low of 82.45 against the greenback.

The Dollar Index which gauges the strength of the dollar against a basket of six currencies rose 0.34 percent to 102.91. Brent crude futures, the global oil benchmark advanced 0.19 per cent to $75.05 per barrel.

Gold prices plunged by Rs 500 to Rs 60,580 per 10 grams. Silver also softened by Rs 450 to Rs 73,300 per kilogram.
