MUMBAI: The Indian Rupee plunged by 8 paise to 82.14 against the US dollar in early trade on Friday against the previous close of 82.06.
At the interbank foreign exchange, the domestic unit opened weak at 82.12 against the dollar and fell further to 82.14, registering a decline of 8 paise over its last close.
The dollar index, which gauges the greenback’s strength against a basket of six currencies, fell 0.11 percent to 105.18. Brent crude futures, the global oil benchmark, declined 0.54 percent to USD 81.15 per barrel.
Meanwhile precious metals, gold, and silver recorded a change in trend. The yellow metal registered a rise by Rs 395 to Rs 55,540 while Silver declined by RS 115 to Rs 62,095.
