New Delhi: Tax raid by GST Intelligence Unit has so far recovered Rs 284 crore in cash and large quantities of gold and silver as per the latest update.
Sources from the unit report seizure of cash Rs 107 crore and documents of properties worth crores from three residences of the businessman in Kannauj. It is also reported that deeds accounting for thousands of crores have been recovered during the siege.
So far, no authentic documentation of disproportionate assets has been revealed by the perfume owner. Reportedly, Piyush Jain eloped on December 23rd and was nabbed after he returned.
According to Chairman, Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), this is the biggest tax evasion recorded in the history of the unit. Officials stated the raid was initiated based on shreds of evidence gathered from raids on Trimurti fragrances and a logistic service accused of illegally transporting goods.
