New Delhi: Opposition takes a row on PM Modi’s security breach in Punjab. A suspension order for Ferozepur SSP Harman has been issued by higher authorities. BJP national president JP Nadda on Wednesday accused the Congress government in Punjab of trying all possible tricks to scuttle Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s programmes in the state. “In doing so they did not bother that the PM was to pay tributes to Bhagat Singh and other martyrs, and lay the foundation stone for key development works in the state. By their cheap antics, the Congress government in Punjab has shown that they are anti-development and have no respect for our great freedom fighters too. What is extremely worrisome is that this incident was also a big security lapse as far as the PM is concerned,” JP Nadda said.

While, the Minister of Women and Child Development of India, Smriti Irani, slammed the Congress government for the lapse. In a press interaction, she accused the govt of deliberately constructing a scenario for PM Modi. Raising questions on the incident she said, “So many people reaching there is not just a coincidence, it’s a conspiracy. Who is responsible for the lapse? Punjab police remained the mute spectator, no security protocol followed.”

Earlier today, PM Modi’s cavalcade was stuck on a flyover after the road was blocked by protesting farmers for nearly 20 minutes. Following this, PM returned to the Bhatinda airport. The lapse has created tension across the political ground. The Home Ministry in a statement blamed Charanjit Singh Channi’s government for failing to prepare for the visit. “The PM was stuck on a flyover for 15-20 minutes. This was a major lapse in the security of the PM,” said the Home Ministry.
