New Delhi: PM Modi on Monday virtually launched the centre’s flagship welfare scheme- Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, describing it as a “new and extraordinary phase the country is entering today.” This mission has the power to bring ‘revolutionary changes in India’s health facilities’ he stated.  National Digital health Mission or PM Digital Health Mission,  forms a key component of the scheme that facilitates issuance of the unique ID for every citizen that would link and transport all personal medical and health records.

During the launch, he drew an analogy between Tourism and health saying,” Today is World Tourism Day as well. You must be wondering what is the connection between health and tourism. But there is. Tell me, will tourists like to visit a place which does not have emergency health services?” he asked. Crediting Co-Win Platform he underlined that the Union Health Ministry had successfully inoculated 86 crore citizens since the inception of the national vaccination drive in January.

This announcement stems from concerns flagged by the UK, which last week cited ‘ vaccination certification issues’ when it announced that even double vaccinated Indians would have to quarantine when arriving in that country.

Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission was launched by the centre during Independence day in 2018. It was implemented in six Union territories as a pilot project. This scheme aims at eliminating the socio-economical barriers and providing the best medical treatment for all.
