Hyderabad: Amidst a sea of humanity and thunderous applause, Anumula Revanth Reddy, the President of Telangana Congress, was sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Telangana today at a grand ceremony held at the historic Lal Bahadur Stadium in Hyderabad.
Wearing a traditional white dhoti and kurta, Reddy took the oath of office and secrecy in Telugu, administered by Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan. The ceremony was attended by thousands of Congress supporters, party leaders from across the country, dignitaries, and officials.
Following the oath-taking, Reddy addressed the gathering, outlining his vision for a better Telangana. He promised to focus on key areas like agriculture, healthcare, education, and infrastructure development. He also emphasized the importance of creating jobs and empowering the youth.
Key Points of Revanth Reddy’s Address:
- Focus on Agriculture: Reddy pledged to implement farm loan waivers and provide better irrigation facilities to farmers. He also promised to invest in agricultural research and development to improve crop yields and incomes.
- Strengthening Healthcare: The new Chief Minister vowed to strengthen the healthcare system by expanding access to quality medical facilities and affordable treatment. He also emphasized the importance of preventive healthcare and improving sanitation conditions.
- Education for All: Reddy promised to make education affordable and accessible to all sections of society. He also spoke about the need to promote skill development and vocational training to create a skilled workforce.
- Infrastructure Development: The Chief Minister announced plans to invest heavily in infrastructure development, including roads, highways, and railways. He also promised to improve public transportation and connectivity across the state.
- Empowering the Youth: Recognizing the potential of young people, Reddy emphasized the need to create more jobs and provide opportunities for entrepreneurship. He also spoke about the importance of promoting sports and cultural activities.
Uttam Kumar Reddy, Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Damodar Rajanarasimha, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Dana Anasuya, Tummala Nageswar Rao, Konda Surekha and Jupally Krishna Rao are the twelve ministers who will take oath along with Revanth Reddy. Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has been appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana and will take oath along with the ministers and the Chief Minister-elect.
Also known as ‘Tiger Revanth’ by his followers, Revanth Reddy took on the tallest leader of Telangana, K Chandrashekar Rao, the leader of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and brought Congress into power for the first time since Telangana was formed in 2014.
