“Restore Internet at Protest Sites, Else Will Hold Demonstration”: KKU Leader to the Government

New Delhi: Internet services were disrupted in several parts of Delhi-NCR, especially in the parts close to the farmers’ protest sites. Darshan Pal, the leader of the Krantikari Kisan Union, has requested the government to restore the internet services, adding that the farmers will protest against the issue if the services are not restored.

The KKU leader, in a media address, declared – “We demand the restoration of internet services in areas where agitation is going on. Otherwise, we will hold a demonstration against it in the country”. 

Noteworthily, the Haryana government suspended SMS services, internet, and dongle services in 17 districts in the state on Friday, and the suspension is to be continued till 5 PM, January 30. Though voice calls did not come under the suspension. The suspension of internet and SMS services followed the violence taking place at several places around the national capital amidst the farmers’ massive tractor rally on Republic Day.

The districts where the suspension was issued include Palwal, Sonipat, Jhajjar. Later, the government revised the suspension order and included more districts under the suspension, which were – Yamunanagar, Ambala, Panipat, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Karnal, Rohtak, Hisar, Bhiwani, Jind, Sirsa, Charkhi Dadri, Rewari, and Fatehabad.

Contextually, tight security has been deployed by the Centre at Delhi-Haryana borders since January 26, the day when the violence happened at several places in Delhi, which injured many police personnel, and destroyed a number of public and private properties.
