New Delhi: The fourth evacuation flight for the stranded Indians is on its way home from Bucharest, ferrying 198 from Ukraine under operation Ganga, External Affairs Minister said today.
Earlier during the day, a flight from Budapest, Hungary under the same operation brought back 240 Indians to Delhi.
Amidst the ongoing crises in Ukraine, the Indian Embassy in Kyiv has advised Indian citizens against moving to any of the border checkpoints without prior coordination with govt officials at the border. Embassies in the neighbouring countries have been issuing fresh advisories at regular intervals updating the stranded Indians about the evacuation strategies being devised by the GoI.
So far, 469 Indians have been evacuated from the war-hit ex-Soviet Union, nearly 250 landed in Delhi on Sunday morning and 219 landed in Mumbai on Saturday evening. The latest advisory issued on Saturday by the embassy in Ukraine read- All Indian Citizens in Ukraine are advised to not move to any of the border posts without prior coordination with Government of India officials at the border posts and the Emergency numbers of Embassy of India, Kyiv.”
“Embassy is finding it increasingly difficult to help the crossing of those Indian nationals who reach border checkpoints without prior intimation,” it added.
It further advised all nationals to stay in western cities of Ukraine where access to essential services is relatively safer.
