Mumbai: In a recent development, in the investigation into the ISIS Maharashtra module, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has made a significant breakthrough by arresting another individual bringing the total number of apprehended suspects to five.
Dr. Adnanali Sarkar, a known practitioner residing in Pune was taken into custody by the NIA during a series of raids conducted in Kondhwa on Thursday. Acting swiftly based on intelligence reports the NIA has uncovered evidence linking Dr. Sarkar to promoting activities on behalf of the banned terrorist organization, ISIS.
During the searches at Dr. Sarkar’s home the NIA seized an amount of devices and documents that serve as undeniable proof of his deep involvement with ISIS. The recovered materials have revealed Dr. Sarkar’s active role in motivating and recruiting individuals to further advance their sinister agenda.
The investigations have uncovered that the accused played a role in the ISIS plot using aliases like Islamic State (IS), Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL), Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) Daish, Islamic State in Khorasan Province (ISKP) ISIS Wilayat Khorasan and Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham Khorasan (ISIS K).
According to sources, from NIA Dr. Adnanali Sarkar is alleged to have aimed at disrupting the unity, integrity, security and sovereignty of our country. It is believed that he conspired against the Government of India as part of the notorious ‘Maharashtra ISIS module.’
The recent arrest is significant as it brings the number of individuals taken into custody in connection with the case to five. The investigation by the NIA began on June 28, 2023. Among those previously detained are Tabish Nasser Siddiqui from Mumbai, Zubair Noor Mohammed Shaikh (also known as Abu Nusaiba) from Pune and Sharjeel Shaikh and Zulfikar Ali Barodawala from Thane. All four were arrested on July 3, 2023, following search operations in Mumbai, Thane and Pune.
According to the NIA, their commitment to uncovering the conspiracy of the Maharashtra ISIS module remains unwavering. They will continue to investigate until all those involved are brought to justice.
