Technology: In the inaugural speech at the India Mobile Congress 2020, the Reliance Jio Chairman Mukesh Ambani declared that Reliance Jio is going to pioneer the 5G revolution in India in the second half of 2021.
Sharing his ideas to turn the nation into the leading digital society in the world with ease of living for everyone, Ambani mentioned that India already comes under the list of the best digitally connected countries in the world; and the lead will be maintained if the policy steps quicken the rollout of 5G network in India and make it available as well as affordable at every nook of the country.
He requested the government to start working on the policy steps immediately, so that the underprivileged population having a 2G network may shift to affordable 5G-enabled smartphones and actively participate in the digital economy.
Ambani affirmed that the 5G network will be powered by the indigenous-developed network, hardware, and technology components. The 5G service will be an assertion to the Central Government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat mission. “I can say with utmost confidence that 5G will enable India to not only participate in the fourth industrial revolution but also to lead it” – stated Ambani at IMC 2020.
He also pointed up that India should not rely on large-scale imports of digital hardware, adding that Jio is already working with Google on launching affordable Android phones.
