Mumbai: Heavy rains in Mumbai have disrupted local train services, and traffic jams are attributed to the waterlogging situation. Heavy overnight showers further aggravated the situation. With IMD predicting heavy rain for the next 3-4 days in Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada region, the situation is expected to even worsen. With this, heavy downpours in Thane, Rigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Mumbai Suburbs, Mumbai, and Palghar will disrupt life in several ways.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red Alert in the state. The state government has declared a holiday as Maharashtra Education Minister Shri Deepak Kesarkar announced in the Legislative Council.

In lieu of this, the University of Mumbai has postponed all the exams scheduled for July 9, 2024. The new dates for the examination have not been announced.

The Railway system is still disrupted. Chief Public Relations Officers of the Central Railways said that the Harbour line track became functional today morning at 4:30 AM after the water receded. However, the Main Line both faster and slower locals will be operating with 2-3 minutes delay.

Earlier on Tuesday, rainfall in Mumbai led to closure of schools, colleges, and several schools were closed.
