New Delhi: The Delhi HC on Tuesday heard the plea by parents of the minor Dalit girl on the rape case, who was murdered and forcibly cremated in the Delhi Cantonment area on August 1.
The Delhi HC ordered the Crime Branch to file a status report mentioning the stage of investigation while hearing the parents of the deceased who sought a judicial probe into alleged lapse in administrative action.
The petition filed through advocate Jitendra Kumar Jha was heard before Justice Yogesh Khanna. The parents of the victim alleged that the police delayed lodging the FIR and were made to wait at the police station in between the intervening night of August 1-2.
They complain of police participating in “hushing up” the rape case. The petition also stated that the parents of the victim were forced by the police to keep the incident discreet and claim that their daughter died of electrocution.
The parents have said that despite the case being transferred to the crime branch, they do not have faith in the present investigation and that the truth can only be proved by a court monitored special investigation team (SIT).
On August 1, a Dalit girl from Delhi Cantt area was raped and killed and alledgely murdered by a priest and three of his male colleagues at the crematorium in Purani Nangal village.
