New Delhi: Parliamentary proceedings in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha witnessed massive pandemonium on the day. The session of Rajya Sabha was suspended for some time fixing the matter relating to the reservation when protests were coming from the Treasury as well as the Opposition benches. The disruption started when the Opposition was angry over the rejection of the standing order 67 notice to discuss the MUDA scam. However, during the Zero Hour, a BJP MP raised the same Grievance, which added to the problem.
The formation of the government was not less stormy in the Lok Sabha. It was agitated in the first half of the day, and the House had to be adjourned for a while due to shouting from the opposition and Treasury members. Organized demonstrations were sparked by some comments over the split up of West Bengal and an alleged nexus by a Karnataka minister. These problems caused much discussion and were followed by a short recess.
A similar disruption was recorded in Thursday’s session, which specialized in the analyzed Union Budget 2024-25. Members of the Opposition denounced the Budget as pro-Andhra Pradesh and Bihar, while in the Rajya Sabha, MPs articulated that it was anti-poor, anti-tribal and, of course, anti-women. There were exchanges of words in the Lok Sabha between Congress MP Charanjit Singh Channi and Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries.
The fisticuff that began by referring to the assassination of Beant Singh, the former Chief Minister of Punjab and Bittu’s grandfather, erupted into more personal and confrontational comments for a more than thirty-minute recess. On the following day, after the House had been cleared for order to be restored, some protests continued on its reassembling. Even in their courtyard, the J&K people could not have such freedom of speech as the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had to ask the Speaker to use non-harsh words to bring the house to order.
