Kuala Lumpur: The Indian diaspora in Kuala Lumpur extended a heartfelt welcome to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh during his arrival in Malaysia for a formal three-day visit. The environment echoed with powerful declarations of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram.” One of the key objectives behind Singh’s trip is to reinforce defense cooperation between India and Malaysia.
Upon his arrival, members of the Indian diaspora enthusiastically chanted slogans and proudly waved the Indian tricolour. Singh reciprocated their warm welcome by greeting them with ‘namaste’ and shaking hands with the excited crowd.
Earlier, the Defence Ministry’s office announced Singh’s visit, stating, “Raksha Mantri Shri @rajnathsingh reached Kuala Lumpur on a three-day official visit to Malaysia. @hcikl”
During his visit, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will engage in discussions with his Malaysian counterpart, Dato’ Seri Mohamad Hasan, on various regional and global issues of mutual interest. Additionally, Singh will also have a meeting with Malaysia’s Prime Minister, YB Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim.
These two nations share an extensive partnership that spans various dimensions, including defense and security measures.This relationship has expanded under the enhanced strategic partnership established during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Malaysia in 2015.
Highlighting the deep and warm relations between India and Malaysia, the Ministry of Defence stated that both countries are committed to working together to achieve their shared vision. In April, it was announced that India and Malaysia had agreed to settle trade in Indian rupees, demonstrating their efforts to safeguard Indian trade amidst the impact of the Ukraine crisis.
Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan had a productive meeting in June with Malaysias Human Resources Minister V Sivakumar. They even agreed together to sign a Memorandum of Understanding. The MoU aims to facilitate the entry of Indian workers into all sectors of Malaysia. Muraleedharan expressed his gratitude to the Minister and the Malaysian government for granting Indian workers equal opportunities in all sectors and stated their joint commitment to expedite the signing of the MoU.
