In the latest infrastructure push along China Border, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will dedicate projects worth Rs. 2236 crores to the country. The projects include roads and bridges that shal significantly boost military mobility and logistics support for deployed forces in areas of Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh.
Singh, who is visiting Sikkim on October 11-12, will open the strategic Kupup-Sherathang road and virtually inaugurate the remaining 74 projects, including a few in West Bengal, Nagaland, Mizoram, Rajasthan and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
This will take the count of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) infrastructure projects dedicated to the country this year to 111 at a total cost of ₹3,751 crore, the officials said, asking not to be named.
Earlier on Monday, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated DefConnect 4.0 at an event in Delhi as a significant step towards advancing indigenous innovation and celebrating the growing defense ecosystem of the country.
Organized by Innovations for Defence Excellence – Defence Innovation Organisation (iDEX-DIO), under the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence at Manekshaw Centre, Delhi Cantonment, the event is expected to bring together armed forces, defense PSUs, innovators and policymakers to discuss ways to advance Indigenous innovation.
