Vipin Raghuvanshi, the brother of slain Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi has also put up a demand of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the case of the gruesome murder which has been alarming the entire country. In his allegations, Vipin has accused major faults in the inquiry conducted by Meghalaya Police and asserted that a telephone conversation, which has recently been leaked, indicates that the whole family of Sonam Raghuvanshi was involved in some greater conspiracy.
Raja was murdered in May during his honeymoon in Shillong in what is said to be a combination of his wife Sonam and her purported lover Raj Kushwaha together with three others. Sonam is still in judicial custody but there are several co-accused who have already been bailed out- a factor that casts doubt in the integrity of the investigation. When appearing before the media Vipin said, “The fact of the speedy granting of bail is a pointer to gross injustice when it comes to the manner in which the police had handled the case. That is the reason we want CBI to assume the charge.”
The leaked audio recording pointed to by Vipin was supposed to prove Vipin right, as according to what he said, Sonam had several phone arguments with her family, something that was not supposed to be true as previously argued by her contacts to her family were none. Her family said that they did not talk to her but Sonam is said to have spoken to her brother, Govind, on four or five occasions. They are involved wholesomely. They have actually gone to the length of getting a lawyer and are already trying to get a bail,” Vipin said. He even accused the voice messages of being been confirmed by a police officer in Shillong when a journalist taped him.
To the controversy is the fact that the brother of Sonam, Govind had been observed to have attended the last rites of Raja with his family. Even though Govind had publicly insisted on his sister being put to death in case she might be found guilty, Vipin says this is a deception.
The situation took a new turn when three persons- Silome James, Lokendra Singh Tomar and Balbir Ahirwa were arrested on charge of obstructing justice and tampering evidence.
