Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi asked people residing in the Puducherry and Tamil Nadu coasts between Mamallapuram and Karaikal to follow all the safety measures against the cyclonic storm Nivar, which is going to intensify and hit the area with a speed of 120-130 kmph, along with heavy rainfall. He also asked the fellow Congress leaders to provide aid and compensation to people whenever they need.
“Cyclone Nivar is making its presence felt in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and parts of Andhra Pradesh. Please follow all safety measures.” – Mr. Gandhi tweeted on his Twitter handle.
He further added “I appeal to all Congress workers to provide assistance to those in need. Stay indoors, stay safe.”
According to the India Meteorological Department, Cyclone Nivar, formed over the southwest zone of the Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify, is going to turn into a ‘very severe cyclonic storm’. The storm is going to cross the Puducherry and Tamil Nadu coasts between Mamallapuram and Karaikal during the late evening of November 25.
