New Delhi: After a greulling questionning session of three hours, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi left the office of the Enforcement Directorate.
Gandhi entered the headquarters of the federal probe agency in central Delhi around 11 am after starting from the Congress office on Akbar Road, and was accompanied by a large convoy of party leaders including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, and ChhattisgarhCM Bhupesh Baghel.
He is being questioned by an Assistant Director level officer- the investigating Officer of the case- being supervised by a Deputy Director and a Joint Director.Another officer is learnt to be typing Gandhi’sstatement which is being recorded under Section 50 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The formers president is being questioned in the National Herald money laundering case.
Addressing the media this morning, Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala said the barricading of the whole of Delhi “proves that the government fears us”. He described the Narendra Modi government as “coward” and said the Congress is ready to make “sacrifices”. Ahead of the leaders’ arrival to the office, nationwide protests were staged by party members. Several of them were detained for protesting without permission.
