New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi expressed his shock and disappointment in a letter on Tuesday. The letter was addressed to the speaker of the Lok Sabha regarding the expunction of several parts of his speech from the Lok Sabha records. The letter that Rahul Gandhi is referring was written a day after he launched a scathing attack on the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) during the discussion on the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address on July 1, 2024.
In lieu of this, Rahul Gandhi posted a tweet which he captioned as “Unhindered, unfiltered, undaunted – a free and fair conversation is the strength of our democracy! I am here to speak with you, listen to you, and facilitate the true expression of the idea of India. For all Communication related enquiries, including: – Media interviews – Social Media platforms – Off the record meetings Please email me at [email protected]”.
“Every member of the House who personified the collective voice of people whom he or he represents has the freedom of speech as enshrined in Article 105(1) of the Constitution of India”, said Rahul Gandhi in his letter.
Further, he also drew attention to the speech delivered by Union Minister Anurag Thakur, noting that the only one word was expunged despite the speech being filled with allegations.
