Accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of ‘divisive politics,’ Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi criticised Modi vociferously during a public gathering at Ramban of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. Gandhi alleged that under the opposition INDIA bloc, the prime minister had lost the initiative and claimed that Modi was no longer the assertive leader that he used to be.

Speaking to the audience, Rahul Gandhi reminded that Modi once said that no one could defeat him and he is an ‘avtaar’. ”Prime Minister Modi had said he is not mortal he is beyond, biological India but the rest of India is biological But God appears to have bestowed Prime Minister Modi with a message in this election — you must work with the public mandate,” said Gandhi.

Gandhi also criticized Modi’s earlier position on an anti-reservation wave of a national census of Castes, which the opposition parties have been keenly demanding. This kind of tension Miller pointed out is also evidenced by the fact that even RSS members are now supporting a census — which would have been a politically unthinkable action just a few years ago.

Speaking at the event, Gandhi stressed the consolidation of the INDIA bloc and how it has affected BJP. He said Modi was visibly nervous in Parliament and stated categorically that the BJP and this reign of Modi are on their deathbeds. “Modi has been threatened by the people and his authority is rapidly diminishing There is almost nothing left for Modi and the BJP,” Gandhi declared.

He also condemned the decision of the central government to abrogate Article 370 and reduce Jammu and Kashmir’s status from a state to a Union Territory, saying it was undemocratic. He said that the current administration resembles a monarchy where the Lieutenant Governor is the king.

The elections in Jammu and Kashmir will take place on September 18, 25 and October 1, whereas in Haryana, the election will be on October 1. The result for both the states will be declared on 8th October.
