In a video that is doing rounds on Twitter, Shinde faction Shiv Sena Yuva Sena president Rahool Kanal declared that stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra would be given a ‘good Shiv Sena style welcome’ at any time when he enters Maharashtra. Reacting to the Madras High Court’s interim anticipatory bail accorded to Kamra, who is being booked for making derogatory comments against Maharashtra deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde, Kanal said.

The arrested and 11 Shiv Sena workers, Rahool Kanal, said that Kamra should follow the Mumbai legal process and also apologized for the vandalizing of Mumbai’s Habitat Studio, where the comedian made the controversial remarks. Rahool Kanal also stressed that Kamra shouldn’t duck from the proceedings and go appear before the Maharashtra authorities.

Kunal Kamra, recognized for his sardonic political views, has been involved in legal issues since multiple FIRs were registered against him in Maharashtra. Kamra approached the Madras High Court, seeking legal protection, saying he has been residing in Tamil Nadu since 2021 and now is worried about his arrest by Mumbai Police.

The Madras High Court on Friday granted him interim anticipatory bail and asked him to furnish a bond to the satisfaction of the judicial magistrate in Vanur in Villupuram district in Tamil Nadu. The order offers temporary respite, but Kanal stressed that protection is only valid till April 7 and that Kamra can not be using it as an excuse not to take action in court.

“We respect the court’s order but it’s just temporary relief,” Kanal responded to the court’s decision, speaking to a news agency. “If he did not come to Mumbai, he should face the law. Even though he has protection in Tamil Nadu, when he steps into Mumbai, he will be welcomed in the true ‘Shiv Sena style’.”
