Ahmedabad: A tremor of 3.7 magnitudes was recorded in the early hours of Saturday in Surat district in Gujarat. According to the Institute of Seismological Research (ISR), the tremor was recorded at 12:52 AM with its epicentre some 27 kilometers west south of Surat.
“An earthquake of Mag: 3.7 hit on Date:11-02-2023 Time:01:51:39 PM IST, Region: 25KM NNW of Dudhai, Kutch”, tweeted the Institute of Seismological Research, Gandhinagar.
The earthquake was recorded at a depth of 5.2 kilometres, and the epicentre was in the Arabian Sea off Hazira in the district. The tremors caused no damage to property or life. According to the Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA), the state has faced a high earthquake risk and witnessed major incidents in 1819, 1845, 1847, 1848, 1864, 1938, 1956, and 2001.
