Amritsar: The Punjab Police reported hearing a loud sound near the Sri Guru Ram Dass Niwas near the Golden Temple. This explosion-type sound was heard in the early hours of 11 May, and the police suspect that this may be the sound of an explosion. The Police Officials reported that they heard the sound near 12:15 to 12:30 AM, and they were doing their best to catch the suspects.

Naunihal Singh, Police Commissioner, said in an interview that “A loud sound was heard at around 12.15-12.30 am. There’s a possibility that it could be another explosion. It’s being verified and is yet to be confirmed. We have found some pieces behind the building. But since it is dark, we are trying to find out. The suspects are being rounded up, and the probe is on.”

Sri Guru Ram Dass Niwas is one of the oldest sections of the Golden Temple present. As soon as the Police officials got to know about the incident, they immediately reached the place along with security personnel to prevent any further mishappening. It has been updated that five individuals have been arrested for the same.

This was the third such incident which has taken place in Amritsar this month. It started from the blast in the parking area of Golden Temple on 6 May, followed by a blast that again happened at Heritage Street, resulting in one individual being injured.
