PuneIn Pune district, Maharashtra, Dr. Rajendra Bhosale, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Commissioner, has reported a total of 64 cases of Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS). Of these cases, 13 patients are currently on ventilators, and 5 other patients have recovered and were discharged from the hospital. Local health authorities have taken immediate action after a new outbreak has raised concern.

Dr. Bhosale, in a statement to a news agency Sunday, said there was an urgent need for health care and support for those affected by the attack. “Right now, there are 64 GBS cases in our jurisdiction. Five have been discharged after recovery, and 13 patients are on ventilators,” he added. “PMC has already undertaken efforts for the patients, such as identifying 15 ICU beds available at Kamala Nehru Hospital, which will give free treatment to those who are being affected by the syndrome,” the Commissioner added.

In addition to the Sehri Garib Yojana, the PMC has come up with a special initiative to provide free medical facilities to the people in low-income strata who cannot pay for medical treatment. This scheme seeks to prevent the most vulnerable people in society from getting necessary care.

PMC has asked four assistant medical officers to oversee the situation in private hospitals so that proper monitoring and assistance can be provided. During this hard time, these officers are responsible for helping give patients and their families the medical help and support they deserve as they fulfill their final days. Authorities are also watching the situation very carefully and are rapidly assessing how to protect the spread of GBS while simultaneously supplying the necessary attention to those people in need.
