Uttar Pradesh: The Samyuky Kisan Morcha has organized a Kisan Mahapanchayt at Muzaffarnagar today. The Uttar Pradesh police department has tightened the security and has imposed strategies to ensure law and order during the Mahapanchayat.
SKM flags this meeting as the’ largest-ever congregation’ by the farmers, who are protesting against the contentious farm laws for the past nine months. The event is being organized at the Government Inter College Grounds in Muzaffarnagar.
Speaking to a local reporter, Director General of Police Mukul Goel said, “Appropriate arrangements have been made in the view of Kisan Mahapanchayat in Muzaffarnagar on Sunday to endure the no law and order problem arises. There is a possibility of farmers from neighbouring state Haryana, Punjab and Uttarkhand also attending the gathering.”
Briefing about the mass gathering, Abhishek Yadav stated the arrival of nearly 70,000 in today’s Mahapanchayat. As per the standard operating procedures, forces have been deployed to keep violence at bay. The forces include six companies of Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) and two Rapid Action Force groups, nearly 12,00 policemen and ten companies of paramilitary forces and 4000 police personnel have been deployed, sources stated. SSP added that nearly 20 LED screens and microphones were installed in a radius of 4km from the venue. Furthermore, he stated the use of drone cameras for aerial surveillance along with 200 CCTV.
The Mahapanchayat today would initiate Mission Uttar Pradesh-Uttarakhand that would ensure defeat to BJP regimes in both the states, read a statement by the union. Following the national Convention of SKM on August 26-27 at the Singhu border, the organization called for a Bharat Band on September 25.
