New Delhi: Congress Leader Priyanka Gandhi participated in the protest launched by the Wrestlers in the Jantar Mantar region, Delhi today morning. The rally demands the sexual exploitation of women athletes and wants the Wrestling Federation of India chief, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, to be arrested.

The General Secretary of Congress also went to the Police Station to get a copy of the FIR report, which has yet not been given to them. Priyanka Gandhi said, “When these girls get medals, everyone tweets, saying they are our country’s pride, but now when they are sitting on the road and seeking to be heard, saying they have been wronged, no one is ready to listen to them. If FIRs have been filed, their copy should be shared with them”.

Congress’s General Secretary said that the actions of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh are indeed hampering the wrestling environment of India. She continues by saying that “See, there are serious allegations against this person. He should first resign and be removed from the post. Till he is in that post, he will continue to exert pressure and keep destroying people’s careers. If that person is there on a post through which he can destroy wrestlers’ careers, harass them and exert pressure, then what is the meaning of FIRs and investigation.”

On Friday, two complaints were filed against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. One of those two complaints was filed by a minor, and it ruled out bail, due to which the Wrestlers have gone under a protest to ensure that Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh is behind bars.
