The most seasoned leader of Congress, Gandhi Priyanka, pointed out a difference between the repetitive speech of PM Narendra Modi over the “redistribution of wealth” and a similar uncle trying to talk gibberish at the wedding corner. Gandhi, addressing an election rally in Gujarat’s Valsad, said jocularly, “If one day, such a “Uncle Ji” warns, “ if Congress government comes to power, your jewelry and mangalsutra will be taken away, given to others, what would you do after listen to all this talk?”
Priyanka Gandhi emphasized the absurdity of the Prime Minister’s statements, highlighting that Modi’s position lends gravity to his words, even when they lack credibility. She remarked, “Today the prime minister of the country is talking such nonsense to you because he thinks people will take his words seriously given the importance of the post he holds.”
In the days, the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is shifting from abolishing nepotism and corruption to saying that inherited wealth was the Congress’s objective and that an inheritance tax should be introduced. According to Modi, such a redistribution would happen in relation to ladies who would lose their jewelry, including the Mangal Sutra, which was made of gold.
Declaring Modi’s impractical statements, Priyanka Gandhi questioned how the objective could be achieved. She was also expressing disbelief at bogus announcements. She retorted thus, “Now he is a mission against the citizens. According to him, the X-ray machine and its search, that gets into houses to snatch ornaments and mangalsutra kept in the safes, is all possible. Is he being nervous? Is it what he is doing?”
Priyanka Gandhi’s statements present a combination of bemusement and amazement at Modi’s use of his campaign apparatus for an unsubstantiated claim that simply makes no sense. Therefore, the suitability of such tactics for a mature major politician can be questioned.
