The 2026 General Budget, which will set the direction of the country’s economic policies, is not far away. President Draupadi Murmu has approved the convening of the Budget Session of Parliament. This has made it clear when the Budget Session will begin and how long it will last.
The Budget Session will begin on January 28, 2026. During this session, the Finance Minister will present the 2026 General Budget in Parliament. Taxpayers, working people, farmers, and businesses are all closely monitoring the government regarding the budget.

On the recommendation of the central government, the President has approved the convening of the Budget Sessions of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju announced this on the social media platform X.
The Budget Session 2026 will be held in a total of two phases.
- First phase: January 28 to February 13, 2026
- Second phase: March 9 to April 2, 2026
Additionally, the Economic Survey will be presented to Parliament on January 29, 2026. After the first phase, Parliament will be adjourned for a few days and then reconvene for the second phase.
When will the General Budget 2026 be presented?
Traditionally, the General Budget is presented in the first phase of the session. Therefore, it is likely that the 2026 General Budget will be presented in Parliament between January 28 and February 13. The Economic Survey, which provides information on the current economic situation of the country, will be presented just a day before the budget.
