Local authorities told residents to remain vigilant and not touch any foreign metallic objects. Special instructions discouraged members of the public from being too careless and associating with suspected shells because of the high probability that those shells can become dangerous in case they are tampered with.

Police urged the public to maintain a safe distance from the discovered shells; leave the area and report them to the nearest station or PCR unit (Poonch) as soon as possible. According to the Haivi released by the news agency, any interference with such shells might cause an explosion. “Your caution can prevent tragedy.”

Officials have advised parents and guardians to educate children on the dangers of potential metal scraps commonly found in rural and forest-covered areas where such unexploded shells are usually found.

The Poonch police emphasized the need for citizens to collaborate for the benefit of public security. It was urged on people to actively help the police and bomb disposal personnel in the safe identification and elimination of those hazardous materials.

To meaningfully promote safety at the critical border region of Poonch, the advisory stresses the importance of public vigilance and quick sharing of information among the public for safety promotion.
