Madhya Pradesh: By-elections in Madhya Pradesh will be difficult for the officials involved, as well as the candidates running. According to the Election Commission of India’s guidelines, the Corona guidelines issued following the Supreme Court’s intervention have added more steps for contestants. The contestants must ensure that the gatherings do not violate the corona protocol. According to the ECI guidelines, the district election officer will identify dedicated grounds with clear entry and exit points.
Based on the guidelines, which relate to poll arrangements and preventive measures, the Chief Electoral Officers will prepare comprehensive plans for their respective states to conduct the elections in consultation with their nodal officers. District officers have the authority to request that organisers keep track of the number of people who have gathered. Violations will result in disciplinary action, according to the ECI’s guidelines. Candidates have been instructed to focus on door-to-door campaigning and to avoid large crowds. ECI has also placed the onus on political parties and candidates to ensure that all Covid 19 requirements are met in political gatherings and rallies.
A polling station should have a maximum of 1,000 voters. The nomination form will be available on the websites of the chief electoral officer and the district electoral officer. Candidates can also fill out their affidavits on the CEO or DEO’s website and deposit their security money online.
