Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers protested outside the Raj Bhawan in Chandigarh on Wednesday in response to the Lakhimpur Kheri violence. Water cannons were used by the police to disperse the protesters. The Congress held a sit-in protest in Sector 35 to express their outrage over the deaths of farmers. Former Union Minister Pawan Bansal stated, “You cannot suppress anyone in a democracy like this.” You cannot silence farmers’ voices if they are protesting three agriculture bills.”
Subhash Chawla, president of the Chandigarh Congress, stated, “Prime Minister Modi is in Lucknow today, but he should go to Lakhimpur Kheri and talk about justice for the deaths of innocent farmers.” They should remove their cabinet minister.” He demanded that the son of the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs be arrested as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, the Chandigarh Youth Congress staged a silent protest outside Gandhi Bhawan in Sector 16 to demand the immediate release of INC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who was detained by UP Police on her way to meet farmers following the Lakhimpur Kheri violence.
