Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Police on Friday seized 110 kg of marijuana which was being transported inter-state from Andhra Pradesh to Maharashtra. After the shipment was sealed, a Special Operation Team (SOT) of the Rachakonda Police has arrested 2 inter-state drug peddlers who were identified as Kishna Ram and Lumbaram Solanki. Both are 24 years old and are natives of Rajasthan. After the arrests, a case was registered at Abdullapurmet police station under NDPS Act 2001.

As per Rachakonda Police commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat, the ganja was obscured secretly in a mini truck full of bananas. The sealed ganja was being transported from Visakhapatnam to Nagpur via Hyderabad, the commissioner added. The value of the consignment was about Rs 18.50 lakh. Police are yet to get a hold of the supplier Masada Pedda Balanna of Visakhapatnam and receiver Rasheed of Uttar Pradesh.

Meanwhile, in 2 other raids, the Hyderabad Police seized 72 kg of ganja and have arrested 4 people. The 70 kg consignment was seized from the Yosufugua area. 2 people were arrested as they sourced the marijuana from Sileru in Andhra Pradesh. Another 2 kilos of ganja was seized from 2 people who were seeking for customers to buy the drug. Earlier, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had directed the police and excise department to take strict actions against the usage of narcotic substances. This was done to curb the usage of drugs in Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana.
