New Delhi: Prominent wrestler Sushil Kumar who won medals in Olympics for his power-packed performances has landed in controversy. A fight that took place outside Chhatrasal stadium in Delhi leading to the death of a 24-year-old wrestler and the injury of the other two has Sushil’s name on the list of accused. He went absconding after the incident as Delhi police are on the lookout for him.

Delhi police are conducting raids across multiple locations and outskirts of Delhi and Haryana to nab the eminent wrestler. Guriqbal Singh Sidhu, the additional DCP of northwest Delhi said in a report, “We have recorded the statement of one of the victims, Sonu Mahal, who made allegations against Sushil Kumar. We are conducting raids to nab Sushil Kumar. During the investigation, we have found so far that the assailants came from outside”.

While the incident took place late on Tuesday night, Sushil already informed the police that he had no connection with the brawl and the wrestlers involved as well. As per his statements, he said, “They weren’t our wrestlers, it happened late last night. We have informed police officials that some unknown people jumped into our premises and fought. No connection of our stadium with this incident”. He is still missing and the police are in search of him. Fir has been lodged against the wrestler.
