New Delhi: On Thursday, two people were arrested by the Delhi police for selling fire extinguishers to a woman instead of an oxygen cylinder which she needed for her Covid-19 positive relative. The accused were arrested from west Delhi’s Uttam Nagar areas. The name of the two people are Ashutosh(19) and Ayush(22). Both of them were selling fire extinguishers as oxygen cylinders at Rs 10,000.
Due to the massive surge in Covid cases, the whole country is facing the scarcity of medical oxygen. The police officer informed, “After a complaint was registered with the police by Geeta Arora, a resident of Bindapur that two people duped her with a fire extinguisher upon purchasing an oxygen cylinder for a relative suffering from Covid infection, the police carried out an investigation”. When the woman demanded her money back, the accused stopped receiving her phone calls.
The police team after probing deeply into the matter gathered information about the two people with the help of Call Detail Record(CDR) and also seized five fire extinguishers from their possession. Both the accused are from Vikas Puri.
