New Delhi: As India continues to find solutions to the catastrophic coal shortage, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Office is likely to review the coal situation. This comes a day after Union Minister Amit Shah convened a meeting with R.K. Singh, Ministry of Power, New and Renewable Energy, and Pralhad Joshi, Coal Minister. Many states are flagging their worries about the widespread blackout in the nation caused by coal shortages.
The Ministry of Power, New, and Renewable Energy today also asked the country’s main energy producers; National Thermal Power Corporation and Damodar Valley Corporation to give as much power as possible to the national capital.
Meanwhile, Pralhad Joshi announced the launch of the third tranche of Auction for commercial mining of coal through a tweet.
Earlier, the Ministry of Power, New, and Renewable Energy has asked various states to utilize unallocated power of the central generating stations. The ministry said in a statement that “it has been brought to the notice of the Ministry of Power that some states are not supplying power to their consumers and imposing load shedding, at the same time, they are also selling power in the power exchange at a high price”.
